Day five - cooking things up!

My children are grown and starting a live of their own.  At times it is lonely for me, but I couldn't be happier watching them become amazing adults and reaching for their dreams! They have married such great people, that I am blessed to have as part of my family.  I am fortunate to have a great relationship with all of them and consider them all as my best friends!  I love the relationship we have and treasure it daily.  I truly believe my children were a gift to me and they have helped me grow more then they could ever imagine.

With that said, we spent Christmas Eve together, and cooked dinner and played games, and stayed the night at my daughter's new place. Since I live on my own now, I had the privilege to cook dinner for them.  Something I haven't done for quite some time.  Sadly, I cooked something my son didn't like!   You think I should have known better.  Ha

Day four - affirming good things can come your way!

Today instead of listening to the morning news while I get ready for work, I decided to listen to some affirmations.  I usually listen to them at night, before going to bed, but I thought I would start the day off differently.  That evening, I won a great prize from a local radio station!   I win free concert tickets for the year 2015 on any concert ticket contests they hold in the year!   How awesome is that?

Day three - let's run with it!

There are certain days of the week where I just don't want to do anything.   I will set aside one certain day of the week to go home and unwind after a long, hard day at work.  I will not plan anything to do on that day, unless I absolutely have to!   Today, I decided that I was not going to do that!  So instead of changing into my pjs as soon as I walked in my door, I changed into my gym clothes, got in my car, and went to the gym, and ran for the first time after a four month sabbatical!  It really helped me feel good about myself and that I was taking a more productive approach to my personal well being!

Day two - reading can be fun!

When I have time off from work, I usually get up in the morning, make a pot of coffe, turn on the tv, and veg!    And, if I don't have anything to do, this can last most of the day!  Yes, I know this is plain laziness, but it's my way to unwind after a long work week!

Today I decided to try something different!  I stayed in bed and read a book! I was surprised in how great I felt in doing this!  I actually felt a bit productive and that I was moving towards bettering myself!  I liked it so much, that I decided I would do that every morning when I don't have to go to work!  Do I dare say, I love books but never find time to read them!  Now all those books on my shelf, have a purpose!

Day one - stepping outside of my comfort zone!

I woke up in the morning and found that I started the day off doing my usual routine of morning coffee while watching a few shows I recorded on my DVR.  After my morning coffee, I ventured out to the store and decided to try on clothes that I normally wouldn't wear!  Honestly, I've put off buying new clothes because I have always wanted to lose weight first!   Well, today I decided that I need to embrace my figure and appreciate my body.   I've been fortunate to have good health, with just minor problems, so I decided that it was time to show appreciation to myself and buy something new to wear!

I ended up buying a pretty blouse that is flattering for my shape.  It's a bit more conforming then what I would normally wear but I decided I need to quit trying to hide underneath big, loose fitting clothes and start showing off my assets!   It felt good to venture out of my comfort zone!

My year long challenge!

I am challenging myself to try something new every day to see how it opens my eyes to life and how it can change my normal routine to something new and exciting.  I've decided to blog about it in hopes that it will not only help me, but others who might need some help getting out of the day to day routine we find ourselves in!  Change can be good!
